85CS
With Lloyd’s certification and accommodation for up to ten guests and two to four crew, the 26-metre Contest 85CS is a yacht set to take the world in its stride. In Yachting World’s succinct words: “The detailed thought and practical experience is on a scale that one rarely has the privilege to witness.”
PERFECT FORM With the Contest 85CS recognisably extending the signature theme first introduced with the Contest 67CS, this step up in size and profile shows the powerful judel/vrolijk & co hull form perhaps even more clearly. The wide beam and distinct soft chines aft combined with carbon A-frame bowsprit and the integral furler for the Code sails speak of fast, stable downwind sailing while the near-plumb bow and fine entry equally talk of swift, tight upwind performance. No compromise there. Sail handling is hydraulic with manual back-up, all operated from the twin helm stations which separate working crew from guests lazing in the forward cockpit area in which the large table converts to sun lounger. There is further social opportunity out on that wide-open flush foredeck where a tender-well doubling as spa bath and lunch cockpit can be specified. Maintaining deck space, the tender can also be stowed in the transom garage which when opened naturally serves as beach platform with water toys all in easy reach.
WELCOMING HUB Through the wide, easy-access companionway, the enormous single-level saloon and dining area with its huge windows at eye-height and in hull sides is daylight bright and impeccably detailed whether the accent is on ocean challenge, post regatta relaxation or family fun. This welcoming hub then leads on to any variety of cabin arrangements and options. On-board service and maintenance is also eased with Contest’s dedicated, full standing height technical room and excellent working space in other mechanical areas. There is a full ship’s management system, monitoring virtually every function which includes redundancy for key componentry. And for that final superyacht qualification, the counter measures against noise and vibration have entered a whole new realm, employing the most extensive preventive technologies and techniques yet.
