59CS
Designed and purposed for family-and-friends sailing and short-handing, the 18.5-metre Contest 59CS is specifically planned for owner operation with everything aimed at ease and simplicity without loss of involvement and action, and is the first size in the range with a fourth cabin. All together a super offering at just 60ft.
PERFECT SET UP It’s all about sailing made convenient and reliable. Safe, trip-free walkabout decks, automated systems for sail and rig handling with always top-end specification and manual systems made more manageable by size and gearing of kit. That means big winches, motors and furlers to reduce stresses and strains, with again suitably specified power supply to ensure uninterrupted operation of the retractable bow thruster as well. In judel/vrolijk & co’s working of interior structural plans, to benefit centre of gravity and ballast needs, the tanks are central and the generator is forward under the saloon floor. Similarly, the battery bank too. Great for weight placement, which means faster, flatter and thereby more comfortable sailing. This also saves engine room space which enables a much larger galley area and enables, if wished, a fourth cabin or workshop and a forward-facing chart area for better integration and socialising with those in the saloon.
PERSONAL CHOICE With the long aft sections, the main suite aft includes super stowage and a large ensuite heads with separate shower stall, and the lazarette behind has great space for dinghy and toys. Forward for the two guest cabins there’s a choice of arrangements, and the saloon has tall headroom and great outlook through the wraparound coachroof windows and hull windows with the waves sliding past. The semi-customisation of individual examples has seen the incorporation of a full-size bathtub in place of the portside guest cabin, and in the forecabin a hidden big-screen TV folding down from within the deckhead. Versatile, adaptable and with Lloyd’s certified construction, there’s no limit to where the Contest 59CS can truly enjoy performance bluewater adventuring or equally simple, local sailing and lazing. The itinerary is open and the world awaits!
