DESIGNER TALK

Helping shape the dreams we build together, our design partners judel/vrolijk & co and Wetzels Brown Partners draw on long and strong experience in engineering, architecture and creativity. Together in the Contest 59CS they have again advanced the pleasures of performance with personal comforts aboard - all of course in impeccable style.

“IMPLEMENTING NEW STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, WE’VE CREATED GREAT VOLUME YET ARE PUTTING TRUE PERFORMANCE INTO CONTEST BLUEWATER ADVENTURING.”

OUTSIDE AND IN

Torsten Conradi of judel/vrolijk & co says, “The development processes we have been through with the Contest 59CS have been very involving. We've taken the principles of an earlier, very popular model and thoroughly modernised the approach. Implementing new structural technologies, we've created more volume throughout, and a plumb bow and shallow foot further open the forecabin area, while at the same time enhancing all round performance.

"It's the same too with the powerful back end. Add to this the optimised foils, overseen by Lloyd's Register, reducing weight and drag and it becomes ever clearer that we are putting true performance into the Contest bluewater adventuring. If talk of such distant cruising sounds too exotic, this of course makes also for truly great sailing closer to home, too, and all in a format so easily managed. This really is a boat for family and friends with, despite her size and tall rig for lighter winds, no need of additional crew.”

“CONTEST SO PERFECTLY MEETS THE CURRENT MOOD FOR THE BLENDED PURPOSE OF EVERYTHING BETWEEN BLUEWATER CRUISING AND LOCAL DAY-SAILING.”

INSIDE AND OUT

Gillian Brown of Wetzels Brown Partners says: "As with all Contest yachts, the new Contest 59CS so perfectly meets the current mood for the blended purpose of everything between bluewater cruising and local day-sailing.

"I've said it before but it is an absolute delight designing and styling for this mixed use, so typical of Contest Yachts.

"It's always interesting, too, from an interior design point of view to achieve such comforts and safety features as we do when accommodating also the extensive, complex electronic and mechanical engineered systems intrinsic in Contest's yachts.

"From dedicated technical areas to the spread air conditioning and watermaker apparatus, and complex bilge and ships' management systems, the need for concealment yet easy quick access calls often for new thinking in spatial transformation.

"A sofa is often times very much more than the imagined simple seat, and shelving or cabinet frequently multi-tasking, too. It is all a remarkable effort, and the collaborative outcome of the many design and build teams at Contest is of the very highest standards. The new Contest 59CS continues this proud tradition well. The gallery images in these pages begin to make this very clear."

"WE CALL IT BUILDING DREAMS TOGETHER."

- Arjen Conijn -

THE PERSONAL TOUCH

Arjen Conijn, third generation CEO of this family owned shipyard and innovator, says, “While some semi-custom builders are striving to standardise their yachts, we at Contest Yachts are different. Again in this new model launch we show that the best way to help owners set out on their own personal voyage is to deliver exactly what they want, individually.

"That’s what we do. We always have. We call it building dreams together. And as you might see from these pages, the Contest 59CS could be the dream you know you want!”
