DESIGNER TALK
Helping shape the dreams we build together, our design collaborators judel/vrolijk & co and Wetzels Brown draw on long and strong experience in engineering, architecture and creativity. Together in the Contest 56CS they have again advanced the pleasures of performance with personal comforts aboard – and all of course in impeccable style.
“COMBINING BEST PERFORMANCE WITH OPTIMAL BLUEWATER CRUISING TRIGGERS SUCH GREAT OPPORTUNITY.”

OUTSIDE AND IN
Rolf Vrolijk of judel/vrolijk & co says, “The design process in the new Contest 56CS has again been really interesting, and in both naval architectural and structural terms. Combining best performance with optimal bluewater cruising characteristics triggers such great opportunity.
"Here, in a powerful, modern hull we've now incorporated carbon composite technologies into key structural components, including the new optional hardtop bimini, saving weight and space, and opening the way to more comforts and inclusions.
"And the hull’s fore and aft sections though commodious are finely tuned for performance across all polars up and downwind in all weathers, just as are the foils are similarly finely tuned, all key influencers in not just performance but ease of handling and safekeeping.”
“CONTEST SO PERFECTLY MEETS THE CURRENT MOOD. IT’S A TRUE PLEASURE TO DESIGN AND STYLE FOR THIS NEW MIXED USE.”
- Gillian Brown -
INSIDE AND OUT
Gillian Brown of Wetzels Brown says, "Contest so perfectly meets the current mood for the blended purpose of bluewater and local day-sailing. It’s a true pleasure to design and style a Contest for this mixed use.
"Whilst maintaining the relaxed style and focus on eased maintenance and upkeep in this new Contest 56CS, we have introduced several new features to better enjoy the space created by the architects.
"In addition to this we introduce new methods of lighting and ventilation: larger and more hatches and windows combined with perimeter lighting around ceilings, furniture and steps.
"You will also find new raised surface stowage and our bigger-radiused and now also vertically ribbed joinery work. All still with high sea-safety standards, as you may expect from a Contest."
"WE CALL IT BUILDING DREAMS TOGETHER."
- Arjen Conijn -
THE PERSONAL TOUCH
Arjen Conijn, third generation CEO of this family-owned shipyard and innovator, says, “While some semi-custom builders are striving to standardise their yachts, we at Contest Yachts are different. Again in this new model launch we show that the best way to help owners set out on their own personal voyage is to deliver exactly what they want, individually.
"That’s what we do. We always have. We call it building dreams together. And as you might see from these pages, the Contest 56CS could be the dream you know you want. Make it yours!”
Building dreams together... the Contest 56CS could well be the dream you know you want. Make it yours!
