AUTOMOTION CONTEST 67CS THE BENTLEY OPTION

AUTOMOTION CONTEST 67CS THE BENTLEY OPTION

Through the course of more than four generations, the Bentley motorcar has long-benchmarked luxury performance for auto lovers. And now in a fascinating collaboration with Contest Yachts, enthusiasts of both brands can extend aspirations from the road and track to the oceans of the world aboard the new Contest 67CS special Bentley edition.

The elegant judel/vrolijk-designed Contest 67CS has always drawn praise. At launch Yachting World magazine described her as “A true small superyacht … perhaps the most impressive new yacht under 80ft in production today!” Now in this new collaboration with perfectly blended Bentley interior and car-matching exterior hull livery, the likes of luxury magazine Salon Privé call this special 67CS edition “An unparalleled masterpiece.” And as the images on these pages illustrate, the accolades are clear to understand. CUSTOM CRAFTWORK Blending our interior theming with the detailing and outfitting style of the carmaker’s Continental GT and Bentayga, this specially commissioned custom trim was created by craftspeople at Bentley Design Services working closely with our own expert design team at Wetzels Brown Partners. This involved at its heart, quite naturally, Bentley Motors’ unique leather-hide quilting with its precise, 712 highly-skilled stitches per diamond, to upholster seating, panelling and cabinetry, sided with an inventory of custom Bentley Home furnishings from chairs to crystal decanters.

And so, the picture builds, yet there is more to this than meets the eye. In this stimulating challenge, prototyping including 3D printing to confirm the feasibility of individual components and ran to full mock-up of assemblies such as the Bentley branded fold-out bar and vanity unit to ensure the exacting quality expectations were met. EXACT PRECISION DETAIL Matthias Rabe, Member of the Board for Engineering at Bentley Motors, says, “Yacht interiors, like that of a car, must be exact with precision detail. Our two companies share not only a renowned heritage in performance and luxury, but also the desire to continually innovate to provide cleaner, greener efficiencies in our work and production practices and output, and we are delighted with the result. The finished article is a testament to the incredible talent and skill of our joined craftsmen and women who rose to the challenge and pushed the boundaries of what is possible.”

The first example of this collaboration is now not just complete but already enjoying a grand tour of the Mediterranean based out of Palma, Mallorca, and looking great in every respect, as you can see in the video made soon after her arrival in warm southern waters. DUAL DREAMS As Contest CEO Arjen Conijn says, “We’ve been building premium class yachts for 65 years now and are well known for our thorough approach to customisation and personalisation. This project is perhaps the ultimate example: working with Bentley to turn a customer’s dual dream into reality. We call it building dreams together. Between us we’ve been doing this for seven generations!"

So, the Contest 67CS now opens the way to exciting new bespoke opportunities for owners to enjoy the shared values and heritage of both luxury lifestyle and performance brands.

And classified for ‘all-ocean’ sailing by Lloyd’s Register, the world’s leading classification and compliance authority, it’s fair to say this Bentley of the Seas is ready to take you anywhere!
