THE VERY BEST OF DUTCH FINESSE
The new Contest 50CS replaces one of our most successful ever models. Fifty-feet has long been a sweet spot for Contest and this 15.5-metre new arrival is set to secure the sector again. Advancing the centre cockpit concept in line with the award-winning Contest 55CS, judel/vrolijk & co and Wetzels Brown Partners in combination have created in the 50CS a brilliant modernity yet timeless appeal.
At Contest the aesthetic is logical, luxurious and long lasting. Sleeping 6+2 in three cabins plus saloon, the Contest 50CS accommodation plan reveals a remarkably bigger interior in every area. The enlarged aft master suite now has an even more spacious bathroom, with separate shower and heads. The twin-sided corridor galley has more height, breadth, increased workspace and stowage, and more natural light, as does the saloon and navigation area too. Forward of the mast the same opening of space and increase in light apply to starboard bunked cabin, portside heads with separate shower stall, and the remarkably tall and wide, airy guest suite with big island bed set above a generous floor plan. This is a big 50-footer.
The detailing is also from the world of bigger yachts from the mood-setting lighting systems to newly formed proud cabinetry and the option for ribbed timber panelling, and a chaise longue in the saloon created using the stowable dining stools to infill the portside sofa. Notably for this new model there is also a clever optional transom window in the aft cabin which, externally, appears set into the grand central bathing stairway which reveals as the beach platform folds out and down to the water.
With both the 50CS and 49CS sharing similar base engineering and detailing, these newly launched models introduce even more natural light into their aft cabin spaces with new stylistically disguised glazing running through the full length of the superstructure’s rear coamings. A very neat idea. Sustainability is increasingly high on the agenda too. So, all-electric propulsion is now an option with a Torqeedo unit and strong battery bank supported by diesel genset, built-in hydro-generator and integral solar panels. Together, powering far-reaching range.

BUILDING GREEN DREAMS TOGETHER
LOOKING TO SUSTAINABILITY?
Going all-electric is clearly a good thing to do but it cannot be done lightly if it is to be done well. We have looked long and hard at this, and we are excited at our innovating collaboration with our chosen partner Torqeedo. The system we have arrived at is truly first class.
The choice of Torqeedo as partner first brings not only the excellent high-torque Deep Blue 50kW unit and a global support network but the ability within the single brand to power all Contest yachts across the range from the 13-metre Contest 42CS to the 21-metre 67CS.
