THE VERY BEST OF DUTCH FINESSE
In the Contest 49CS, our first aft cockpit, twin aft cabin yacht at this length, we have developed something new, different and yet reassuringly consistent with Contest credentials. A natural step up from the Contest 42CS, that we’ve not had before, and equally a new step into the Contest range for sailors preferring their master suite forward and family or guest cabins in the back.
And what cabins these are, they’re huge, on a scale never seen at this end of the 50ft sector. With judel/vrolijk & co’s balancing of modern topside height and max beam carried well aft, we’ve achieved a twin aft cabin plan conventionally impossible with standing headroom throughout and the option of doubles or twin berths with walkway between. And yet better again, we’ve retained most of the genuinely advantageous features of our long-favoured and famed ‘centre cockpit’ arrangements. We are unique in achieving this.
First, we still have the forward leisure cockpit, separated from the steering and sheet handling behind. Second, below we have kept our practical and fabulously high-end equipped double-sided corridor galley with expansive refrigeration, stowage, and excellent access to service points. Third, back on deck those twin helm stations though separated are still comfortably forward, ensuring helm, crew and guests are all in safe, secure, inboard areas. And when at anchor that aft section of deck becomes a beanbag-chilling zone making for easy, unobstructed use of the swimming platform and tender garage in the transom.
The Contest 49CS achieves everything and more desired of an aft cockpit design without compromise, including options for electric propulsion, renewable energy generation and sustainably sourced materials from decking to soft furnishings.

BUILDING GREEN DREAMS TOGETHER
LOOKING TO SUSTAINABILITY?
Going all-electric is clearly a good thing to do but it cannot be done lightly if it is to be done well. We have looked long and hard at this, and we are excited at our innovating collaboration with our chosen partner Torqeedo. The system we have arrived at is truly first class.
The choice of Torqeedo as partner first brings not only the excellent high-torque Deep Blue 50kW unit and a global support network but the ability within the single brand to power all Contest yachts across the range from the 13-metre Contest 42CS to the 21-metre 67CS.

POLAR PERFORMANCE DIAGRAM & STABILITY CURVE
Curves from in- and outside are calculated at 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20 knots true windspeed.
The stability curve shows a high initial stability and great sail carrying capacity.
